"...Likhaan’s health workers—community members without medical degrees who are trained as outreach and clinic workers—provide information and contraceptives at the organization’s clinics. One worker, Lilibeth Armayan, the clinic coordinator in Malabon, says she and the other health workers see about 40 to 50 women a day in the small two-story clinic in the cramped alleys of Malabon. Sixty percent of the clinic’s patients go there looking for birth control. "...The success of Likhaan in promoting women’s reproductive rights is due, in more ways than one, to the dedication of its staff. The extent to which they are willing to help goes beyond the call of duty. ... Just last year, Magdalena took in a pregnant teenager who was a rape survivor. She attempted to commit suicide twice before seeking help from Likhaan. After she attended counseling sessions, she decided to go through with the pregnancy under one condition—she will have nothing to do with the baby after giving birth.
